FAQ

Is Sheer Physical Defense UV SPF 50 a chemical or physical sunscreen? Sheer Physical Defense UV SPF 50 is a physical sunscreen because it contains the minerals zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that sit on top of the skin to create a barrier of protection from the sun’s UVA/UVB rays.

What is the difference between chemical and physical sunscreens? Chemical sunscreens use key ingredients that absorb into the skin and inactivate the sun’s UVA/UVB rays as they absorb into the skin. Physical sunscreens for the face and body, like Sheer Physical Defense UV SPF 50, create a protective barrier that reflects the sun’s rays.

Are mineral and physical sunscreen the same thing? Yes, mineral and physical sunscreen is the same thing. Physical sunscreens for the face and body use minerals to create a protective and reflective barrier to prevent damage from the sun’s UVA/UVB rays.

Who should use mineral sunscreens instead of chemical sunscreens? Individuals with sensitive skin should use mineral sunscreen for the face and body, like Sheer Physical Defense UV SPF 50, instead of chemical sunscreen because the chemical reaction that occurs to deactivate the sun’s harmful rays may irritate the skin.

What is sheer sunscreen? Sheer sunscreen is designed to be lightweight while still providing UV protection. While these sunscreens can leave a white cast, it is usually minimal.
