Why did you choose to formulate a mineral sunscreen?
Our Multimodal Sheer Mineral Sunscreen is formulated with an ultra-fine mineral-based UV filter. We chose to formulate with mineral filters because it provides immediate sun protection, while being ideal for sensitive skin as seen from our consumer panel results where 100% of testers agreed they felt no sensitivity or irritation after using Multimodal Sheer.**

Why just an SPF 25? Is that strong enough for sun protection?
The difference between SPF 15 and SPF 50 is relatively (and maybe surprisingly) minor. SPF 25 typically blocks 96% of the sun's harmful rays, while SPF 50 blocks 98% in most cases.
What's the difference between UVA and UVB protection?
Think of it this way: A for "aging" and B for "burning." UVA rays are the deep-penetrating ones that are known to cause visible wrinkles, dark spots, premature aging, and long-term damage, leading to concerns like visible dark spots and uneven-looking skin. UVB rays, on the other hand, are responsible for sunburns.
The effects of UVA rays aren't just long-term. The intensity of UVA rays remains consistent throughout the day, in colder and darker months, and through windows. Simply put, you're exposed to UVA rays indoors and on cloudy days. That’s why you need comprehensive sun protection: against UVA and UVB rays.
Why doesn't the Multimodal Sheer SPF contain titanium dioxide?
We choose every ingredient in each of our formulas with strategic, thoughtful precision. We opted to leave titanium dioxide out of the Multimodal Sheer (as well as the Multimodal Defender) because it has the potential to irritate certain skin types, like sensitive-type skin.
Can this be used at night as well?
Yes. While we recommend it for daytime use, you can use it as a targeted treatment to brighten the skin's appearance.
How long will the product last me?
About six weeks, depending on your application frequency.
Can you tell me about the texture of the Multimodal Sheer SPF?
It’s soft, fluffy, and lightweight. It has a priming veil-like texture that’s designed to layer well with and under other U Beauty products, especially The SUPER Tinted Hydrator.
Will it leave a white cast?
As with all mineral-based formulas, achieving full transparency across all skin tones can be challenging. We carefully optimized our formula to be as sheer and blendable as possible, but we recognize some white cast may still occur.
To minimize this, we recommend:
• Applying in thin, even layers and allowing absorption between applications.
• Warming the product in your hands before applying.
• Applying a tinted moisturizer, like The SUPER Tinted Hydrator afterward.
